I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO THINK

I just...don't know.

This morning, noon, afternoon...TODAY my bro showed me a computer article that said Lucasfilm was being sold to Disney.  My reaction?  "WHAT NO NO NO CHECK THE SOURCE IF IT WAS THAT SHADOW DUDE DISREGARD IT BECAUSE HE MAKES UP STUFF ALL THE TIME."

(Did I actually say that?  No, probably not, but I think I summed up what I said, basically. XD  Was I actually yelling?  ...maybe.  I was definitely talking loudly at some point.)

Seriously, though.  A reaction of horror and disbelief.

And when I came online later, THE WEB BLEW UP.

EVERYWHERE, EVERYWHERE, THERE WAS STUFF ABOUT IT.

(Okay, I'm not being entirely honest here, it was on a few of the sites I frequent. XD)

BUT STILL!

So, just look around the fan sites, and you'll likely see people that are really excited about it, people that hate the idea, people that are trying to be optimistic.  Me?  I'm still trying to get used to the concept.

So, yes, my first reaction was something of horror, but really it was just because I liked the fact that Lucasfilm was a major company on it's own and now it's hooking up with another franchise.  I liked that it was on it's own.  Stupid, I guess.  So, not really horror, I suppose...something more like dislike, or disappointment.  But I don't think that was the prevalent emotion.  The prevalent emotion was more like disbelief, as I said.  I couldn't believe it.  I still am trying to wrap my mind around it.

A few other fans of the franchise have written on the subject.  Check out Amaranthine'sSavanna'sAutumn's, and Jamie's blogs.  There's also a Yahoo article that has some info.  (This article brings up an excellent point: the question of Princess Leia being a legit Disney princess!  That'd be cool!)

After writing this post up, and thinking on the subject, I think my statement is that I am tentatively optimistic on this subject.
Why?
Let's face it: it's done.  There's no going back.  So, why do the whole "what might have been"?  "What might have been" is for storylines and stuff...it's called fanfiction.  Real life "what might have been" is pointless.

And like my friend DSK said: "the earth will keep spinning and it doesn't really matter in the big picture".

And after all that about not knowing what to think (I am such a drama queen) you now know what I think! XD

Thanks for reading!

  1. I'm curious to see what's planned for Star Wars...but I'm trusting Disney. It seems like Star Wars and Disney have been getting along for years with the Star Tours ride and merchandise, (not to mention Star Wars Weekends!) so we'll have to see how this goes.

  3. I'm hoping that it'll be good BECAUSE Lucas is being taken away. He was what ruined the prequel trilogy.
